Belarus is a country located in the center of Europe, in its heart. The official name is the Republic of Belarus. The country gained independence on August 25th, 1991. It borders on Russia in the northeast, on Ukraine in the south, on Poland in the west, and on Lithuania and Latvia in the northwest. The capital and the most populous city is Minsk.

Climate and weather in Belarus
In Belarus, the climate is continental, with cold winters and relatively warm summers, and two short intermediate seasons. The degree of continentality increases from northwest to southeast, that is, as you move away from the sea and enter the great plains of Eastern Europe.
Average Temperatures in Belarus
Average temperatures are variable. In January, temperatures vary from -4.5°C to -8°C. Some parts of Belarus experience sub-zero temperatures for more than a third of the year.
Rain and snow in Belarus
The average annual rainfall is 600-700 mm. 70% of the rain falls appear from April to October.
Belarus also enjoys 75-125 days of snow each year, with snowbanks ranging from 15 to 30 cm.

The people of Belarus are kind, friendly and good-humored nation. The patience and peacefulness of the Belarusian people are determined by national history. Unfortunately, it was darkened by endless wars in which Belarusians suffered a lot. The country is welcoming all visitors and will be glad to share its culture, traditions and hospitality.
Ethnic Belarusians make up more than 80% of the population. Due to the history, many other nationalities have also settled in the country, some of them have been established for several generations. Belarusians will be glad to see any representatives of different cultures and they are always ready to help!
